Any specific details? I'm driving up from many miles in the south and will be in Idaho - Montana after June 23rd.
We are essentially hiking, and looking for secluded, though relatively easy (2-5 mile) hikes, as we are driving 1,500 miles just for the road experience, sightseeing, listening to folk tunes, enjoying the Creator's handiwork, and so forth.
What are "must" visit places? Valleys, mtns. Where to avoid.
Are the snow coaches (on the glacier) a ripoff? Is the Byway open in late June? Anything you can share would be most appreciated!
Thank you.
Lake Louise - Jasper (Scenic Byway)?
The drive is awesome and well worth the time. Anything you see is beautiful. There is lots of wildlife. Lake Louise is a great place to stay if you can afford it. The glacier coach is worth the trip as it is really unique. I would avoid tasting the glacier "water". My wife got quite sick from it. The area should be open in late June. Try to drive through Glacier NP and don't miss the Going to the Sun Highway. Also, check out the Peace Park in Canada. There are hikes and trail all over up there.
