Balloons on strings,
Sailing, bouncing June
Into July kites skimming
Tails like afternoon
Mosquito hawks on quiet
Water. There! The butterfly
Making its rounds of
Moonflowers' snow petals
Enticing emerald hummingbirds,
Giant moths soundlessly
Fluttering topaz and ruby
Wings. Again! The butterfly
Dips, bobs angel-blue wings.
Balloons, kites, put away
For the night. Hummingbirds,
Butterflies vanish....
There is peace....
What think you of this 'goodnight' poem?
beautiful. I love hummingbirds.
Reply:Transports one into a peaceful sleep.
Only in real life mosquitos trouble me and my sleep these days!
Good night!
Reply:I like it and thought it had lots of rhythm of gentleness, going from the afternoon into the night--I loved it!
Reply:Loved it.
Like butterflies and hummingbirds who vanish in the night
I'll bid you a sound sleep, so you're eager for the morning light.
Reply:That would be a lovely sight to behold.
Reply:it reminds me of a summer day
for the first 4 verses, then for the
rest, it reminded me of a
summer afternoon :)
it's not really a 'goodnight' poem
for me :) but it's still very good
and peaceful.

Reply:As a child, I often dreamed of flying. Everything in this poem flies and soars, as does the poem itself. I will picture this poem tonight and perhaps I will actually sleep.
