I will be going to Lake Tahoe from may 30th-june 3rd and will be staying in Squaw Valley. I was wanting to know what the weather usually is between the end of May and the beginning of June. What clothing I shuld expect to wear. We like to hike and look for scenic sites. Which hiking trails are the most scenic. I have looked online but was just wanting some local perspective. I also am thinking about driving to Yosemite one of those days for a scenic auto drive. How long does it usually take? Google states about 3-4 hours..... Will the passes be open during that time frame? Is there usually alot of snow? And where are the best places to hike?
Thanks in advance
What is the weather like and which trails are the best scenic trails in Lake Tahoe between May 30-June 3?
Hi, are you from Memphis like your avatar indicates? I live near Nashville now, but lived in South Lake Tahoe for 12 years. The weather is "usually" pretty mild at that time of year- in the 70's, although you just never know in Tahoe! It snowed one year on my daughter's June 13 birthday! I would pack for Springtime weather but take along a sweater or light jacket- evenings do get cool all year long. A drive to Yosemite would be great, but also plan to drive around Lake Tahoe and take advantage of the hiking around the Lake. Yes, if nothing unforeseen hapopens, the passes will be no problem at that time. There is still usually snow on the highest peaks, but it's usuallly gone from Lake level by then. Have a great time- it's a beautiful area!
